View from the train

Our first view of the hills and the tenements....these tenement buildings were commonly seen in any
city of a decent size. They were built during the Communist era and people would have to wait to get a
place in one of them, and they were lucky if they got one. When Communism fell in 1990, it was an odd version
of economic musical chairs - if you had an apartment in one of these tenements, you suddenly owned it.
Obviously, some were luckier than others.
